    Press-Fit Bushings (P)

    Drill-Jig Bushings

P style drill bushings are the most-popular and least-expensive type of drill bushing. Type P bushings are permanently pressed into the jig plate, usually flush with the top surface. P style drill bushings are generally used for single-operation drilling or reaming, when you do not expect to replace bushings during the tooling's lifetime. Type P bushings can be mounted closer together than headed bushings, but offer less resistance to heavy axial loads.

To order a specific standard Type P bushing, select the basic part number below and add the desired ID drill size (as a 4-place decimal inch) on the Price & Availability screen. See Technical Information tab for Standard Drill Sizes. Standard prices apply only to bushings with a standard inch, number, letter, or metric ID size within the stated range (either ground or unground OD). Long bushings with ID sizes marked * are counterbored according to ANSI standards for proper drill-bearing length.

    Example standard bushings:

    P-20-16-.1250 1/8" ID (.1250)
    P-20-16-.1772 4.50mm ID (.1772)
P-20-16U-.1250 1/8" ID (.1250) with unground OD (add "U" on Price & Availability screen)

    Application Information

P bushings are permanently pressed into the jig plate, usually flush with the top surface.

    ID Tolerance

    Standard ID Tolerance:
    From #80 to 1/4" +.0001/+.0004
    Over 1/4 to 3/4" +.0001/+.0005
    Over 3/4 to 1-1/2" +.0002/+.0006
    Over 1-1/2 to 2-3/4" +.0003/+.0007

    Reamer ID Tolerance (Special):
    From #80 to 1/4" +.0005/+.0008
    Over 1/4 to 3/4" +.0006/+.0010
    Over 3/4 to 1-1/2" +.0008/+.0012

Reamer bushings have a different ID-tolerance range than drill bushings. To special-order bushings with the reamer ID tolerance shown here, add "-REAMER" to the part number:
    P-20-16-.1250-REAMER (Special)

    OD Tolerance

    Standard OD Tolerance:
    5/32 to 13/64" +.0016/+.0012
    1/4 to 13/32" +.0016/+.0013
    7/16 to 5/8" +.0017/+.0014
    3/4 to 1" +.0018/+.0015
    1-1/8 to 1-1/4" +.0020/+.0017
    1-3/8 to 1-1/2" +.0022/+.0018
    1-3/4" +.0023/+.0019
    2-1/4 to 2-3/4" +.0025/+.0021
    3 to 4" +.0028/+.0023
    4-1/4 to 5" +.0030/+.0025

    Unground OD Tolerance:
    5/32 to 13/64" +.010/+.005
    1/4 to 7/16" +.015/+.010
    1/2 to 2-1/4" +.020/+.015

    No-Counterbore Option on Long Bushings*

Extremely long bushings with a small ID size (marked with an asterisk * in the tables below) are counterbored according to ANSI standards for proper drill-bearing length to eliminate binding and heat buildup. Add "-NCB" for applications that require these bushings without a counterbore:

    P-20-16-.1250-NCB (Special)

    Material

1144 Stressproof steel, heat treated to achieve Rc 62-64 ID hardness. Other materials are available by special order. DFARS and RoHS compliant.
