    These unique pressure-indicating cylinders allow monitoring pressure on decoupled pallets. The plunger extends only while the set pressure is exceeded. Unlike other clamps and cylinders, Control Cylinders do not extend immediately under low pressure. Their internal springs are calibrated to restrict plunger movement until a set pressure is reached. Full plunger movement takes place entirely during a small "switching range" (hysteresis) during which the plunger moves from fully in to fully out. By using a probe or limit switch on the machine tool, you can check whether proper pressure is present or not.

    Available in a version for standard fittings (with 1/4" BSPP port), a version for manifold mounting, or a Control-Cylinder Internal Assembly for custom installation. Each is available in three pressure-setting ranges:
    High 4350-7500 psi
    Medium 3200-5950 psi
    Low 1400-2300 psi

    Application Information

    Limit switch mounted on machine table monitors clamping pressure by sensing the extended position of the Control Cylinder's plunger. If system pressure somehow drops below the set level, the plunger would retract.

    Operation

    The plunger extends only while the set pressure is exceeded. Unlike other clamps and cylinders, Control Cylinders do not extend immediately under low pressure. Their internal springs are calibrated to restrict plunger movement until a set pressure is reached. Full plunger movement takes place entirely during a small "switching range" (hysteresis) during which the plunger moves from fully in to fully out.

    Pressure Setting

    Select a Control Cylinder with a setting range based on desired system operating pressure. Usually Control Cylinders can be set approximately 20% under full operating pressure, unless tighter control is required. To set control pressure, turn front threaded bushing after loosening setscrew, then re-tighten setscrew.

    Mounting & Fluid Supply

    Fasten with two 1/4" or M6 socket-head cap screws. Dowel in place with two 6mm dowel pins. For manifold mounting, the mounting surface must be ground flat to ensure proper O-ring sealing. Drill 3/16" dia passage with a counterbore .531/.535 dia x .057/.061.

    1/4" BSPP port. Optional manifold-mounted version has an O-ring port underneath instead of a standard port. Order O-ring CLR-3000-347 separately. Do not use NPT fittings.
